Eiskanal Rafting @ Olympic course in Augsburg/Germany |
| Minirafts & Topo Duo (twin kayaks) |
|
At first we welcome you at our home base directly at the Eiskanal in Augsburg. Where the Eiskanal is flowing back into the River Lech you will find the Restaurant 'Hochablass' and us in the same building. There is a lot of parking spots just in front of the office you can use for free. After first briefings we get changed into the the wet suits. When all the team is ready, we have some 600 meters walk to the place where the rafts are already prepared for your adventure. There, we only have to top up the air pressure inside the tubes, as we can't store it when the sun is out fully inflated. After having geared up completely we carry the raft another 100 meters to the put in, doing the safety talk then. But before commencing our trip, we will jump into the clear waters to cool you down and get used top the temperature. Heaps of fun guaranteed! The Olympic course was built in 1972 for the Games in Munich-Augsburg-Kiel those days. The channel is 700 meters long with a drop of some 5 meters. The waters running down are diverted at the top weir (Hochablass) into the channel. There is no need of expensive pumps to run the system like in other artificial wildwater parks. The channel itself is a huge concrete halfpipe creating rapids like 'Shugarhead', 'Marry-go-round', 'Zoome Flume' or 'Moby Dick'. We are increasing the fun in each round by doing more risky maneuvers, or even a flip. At the end of 3rd round you have the choice of swimming the lower part as well, some outstanding experience. |
