Rafting world championships 2003 in the Czech Republic River upper Moldau.

In September 2003 we did participate as the German National Rafting Team at the rafting worlds in our neighbour country Czech Republic, just 3 hours drive from our hometown. The competition took place in Lipno where the River Moldau is dammed in a big lake. Once a year in August/September the water authorities release water for competition and this was happening the third time in history for a world championship there (1967 the canoe slalom and in 1998 the junior slalom world championship). Slalom and sprint were started direct below the dam for the next 700 meters. Downriver as well, but the long distance for the next 33 minutes, on some parts very steep and heavy wild water in the middle of the forest which was flooded then.
