Alpine guest-house Plattenrain Alm - Arzl/Pitz valley
Stands alone at 1506 meters altitude, located above the village of Arzl, offering magnificent views of the Inn and Pitz Valleys.

This exposed position in the midst of mountain meadows and forests lends its completely special attraction to the house. An ideal starting point for the varies activities e.g. mountain walks and hikes, Mountain bike tours on specially created ways or simply a stroll in the mountain region of the `Venet' peak. Enjoy the sunrise in the morning or breakfast on the sun-flooded Terrace is a special treat!

The hotel is built in traditional Austrian style which offers a rustic cosiness. 

A total of 120 beds offering optimal accommodation for large or small groups as well as families with small children who want to escape for the weekend and take in the fresh mountain air. It is also ideal for clubs, company incentives or coach trips looking for a few days break! The Plattenrain is the only Alpine house that can be reached by buses and coaches. (It is not accessible to double decker or double axel Buses)

A typical kitchen serves delicacy's from the region and gives the house its own native note. Particularly in the autumn, we organise the unique North Tyrolean `Toerggelen' with the harvest-fresh fruits, wines and other specialities of the region. Naturally by prior arrangement we organise special entertainment evenings with local music on Saturday evenings. On request the cellar bar and Disco opens for the hungry dancers and fit Rafters.

Behind the house is the playground and recreational park which is continually being extended. Exclusively for our guests and especially for the younger visitors is the animal enclosure with native and exotic animals (Deer's, Goats, Pony's and Lama's to name a few....). Completed last year was the new terrace and grill station with Souvenir shop.

Directions to the Plattenrain Alm:

  • The Alpine Hotel Plattenrain is reached via the `Fernpass' on either the A7 Fuessen/Reutte or the A95 Garmisch/Griesen and avoiding motorway fees (Vingette)..

  • From Imst follow the signs to `Pitztal'. First comes the small village of Artzl, approximately 1 km after Artzl turn right at a small bus stop.

    • Follow the signs to Plattenrain. The road winds it's way 6 km up a tarmac `serpentine' road through the small village of Timmls and Hoch-Asten and ends directly at the parking lots to the Hotel.
  •  

    • Please drive carefully as the road is very narrow in places and pedestrians (Hikers) use the road during the day. If you journey is delayed due to traffic or such like and you will arrive after 9.00 o'clock in the evening please call us on one of the below telephone numbers so we can plan your evening meal.

  • During the winter, tire chains are absolutely necessary and should be used from the bus stop. For rear wheel drive vehicles and mini-buses additional chains should be used on the front tires. Special permission is needed for Coaches in the winter, requests can be made through us or can be obtained direct from the district office in Imst (0043-(0)5412-6996-0).

  •  Due to height restrictions Double-decker/Top deck coaches can not reach the Plattenrain by road.

  • Groups who would like to be transported to the skiing area in Hochzeiger can be collected by the local ski bus and returned again at a small fee. Prior arrangement is necessary.

 

The travel time from the Plattenrain to the Raft Base is approx. 25-30 minutes!
